The New York Mayor Eric Adams confirmed that he will get his three payment checks in Bitcoin and doesn’t see the price of BTC declining as a problem so let’s read more today in our latest Bitcoin news.
Eric Adams believes that with the BTC price dropping, this is a perfectly good buying moment. The newly elected New York Mayor confirms that he supports the number one cryptocurrency and opined that the recent price drop could provide more opportunities for investors that can reaffirm the previous stance indicating that he will get his first three paychecks in BTC. He hasn’t changed his stance on BTC despite the recent price slumps and in an interview with CNBC, he seemed pretty undeterred by the adverse developments and said that investors could sometimes capitalize by investing in certain assets when they experience drops such as this one:
“I’m going to take my first three paychecks in bitcoin. I haven’t received my first check yet.”
It is worth noting that he is not the only US politician that wants to get paid in crypto. Before him, Miami’s Mayor Francis Suarez announced he will receive his salary in BTC. During his campaign in 2021, Adams promised that he will transform New York City into a center of cybersecurity and the center of self-driving cars, drones, and bitcoin:
“We need to use the technology of blockchain, Bitcoin, of all other forms of technology. I want New York City to be the center of that technology”
Back in November, Adams doubled down on his crypto support by saying Bitcoin and other coins are a new way for paying for goods and services worldwide. He urged American schools to add new subjects that will allow the younger generation to study Bitcoin and blockchain technology:
“We must open our schools to teach the technology.”
The politician also hinted that his administration could enable local businesses to accept BTC and other assets as a form of payment but this initiative will be examined before being implemented.
As recently reported, New York Mayor Eric Adams seems to be doubling down on his pro-crypto stance and asserted that the schools should incorporate crypto studies into their curriculum. Adams described crypto as a new way of paying for goods and services and even urged local schools to equip students for the new way of thinking that is brought on by blockchain technology and digital assets.
