New York Giants star Saquan Barkley plans to convert his annual marketing profits and income into Bitcoin as we can see more in our latest Bitcoin news today.
The New York Giants star Saquan Barkley said that he will use the payment application Strike to convert the profits from endorsement and marketing deals into Bitcoin and he outlined that this is the only way to preserve his wealth during times of inflation. In a recent appearance at Anthony Pomploano’s episode, Barkley said he will receive his future endorsement money in Bitcoin. The 24-year old star outlined the primary cryptocurrency as the best choice for a store of value especially when inflation starts to shake the economy:
“We’re seeing inflation and we’re learning you can’t save wealth. That’s why I am going to be taking my marketing money in bitcoin.”
Barkley said he wants to create generational wealth for his family as to him this is impossible to only rely on salary alone. The athlete went further saying the converting to BTC because it is the smart thing to do.
“When you see the KDs, the Lebrons and Bradys of the world, and you want to create generational wealth, you can’t do that with the sport that I play and the position that I play and coming off of injuries.”
The football player had plenty of endorsement deals with brands like Pepsi, Nike, Toyota and according to Pompliano, Barkley generates $10 million per year in marketing income. It is worth noting that Grayscale investments became the main sponsor of the New York Giants charity foundation and also its Official Digital Currency asset Management Partner. At the end of 2020, Carolina Panthers’ tackle Russell Okung became the first NFL player to get paid in BTC. He announced he will receive half of the total salary in the main cryptocurrency.
The athlete who expressed his interest in crypto plenty of times will be receiving $6.5 million in BTC, considering that his full salary for 2020 was $13 million and just like Barkley, Okung will use Zap which is a Chicago-based crypto wallet along with Strike to convert his earnings. Jacksonville Jaguars’ quarterback Trevor Lawrence also joined the BTC train and partnered with the investment app Blockfolio.
