Even though most of the nay-sayers think that people in the US are not well educated when it comes to cryptocurrencies, a new study has proven this wrong.
Millennials are the first group of people that are more optimistic about the chances of cryptocurrency being widely accepted. Nearly half of the ones who think that this – would actually prefer using crypto over the US dollar – according to a recent consumer survey conducted by YouGov Omnibus on awareness of and attitudes towards cryptocurrency.
The general result of the survey showed that 79% of Americans are aware of at least one type of cryptocurrency. According to the survey, Bitcoin leads in terms of awareness with 71% of the participants recognizing it by name. Ethereum is next with 13% recognition among the Americans.
Another important statistic is the fact that cryptocurrency awareness was higher among men than women for nearly all of the types of cryptocurrencies mentioned. Speaking of, 27% of women were unfamiliar with any cryptocurrency, compared to 16% of men.
All in all, more than a third (36%) of all respondents said that they believe cryptocurrencies will become widely accepted for legal purchases in the next decade – which is an indicator that clearly shows that people are on the side of cryptocurrencies.
Still, 34% of people also think that cryptocurrencies are not likely to be widely accepted in 10 years, which is an opinion that the crypto market needs to change.
