Mexico’s third richest Ricardo Salinas has up to 60% liquid portfolio in BTC and upped his holdings over the past three years so let’s read more in our latest Bitcoin news.
The Mexican billionaire said that 60% of his liquid investment portfolio is in BTC. Salinas is Mexico’s third richest man and 154th richest in the world with a net worth of $12.8 billion. During the Miami Bitcoin 2022 Conference today, Salinas said he doesn’t own bonds but prefers to invest in Bitcoin.
I want to thank @TheBitcoinConf for giving me the opportunity to speak about “what’s next”, it was a pleasure to meet you all 😌.

This is from 2020 when the business magnate admitted 10% of his portfolio was in BTC and said at the time that the asset protects the citizens from governemnt expropriation:
“I definitely don’t have any bonds. have a liquid portfolio—I have 60% in Bitcoin and Bitcoin equities, and then 40% in hard asset stocks like oil and gas and gold miners, and that’s where I am.”
Salinas who is a Grupo Elektra chairman has been a bitcoin fan for a long time. In October 2020 he posted on Twitter a list of book recommendations like “the Bitcoin Standard” by economist Saifedean Ammous. Not long after, he admitted he held BTC in his portfolio and the billionaire went full BTC and even changed his Twitter to include the biggest crypto by market cap, joining the likes of Michael Saylor and Anthony Scaramucci. Salinas controls more than half of the Mexican motorcycle market and talked about BTC plenty of times on social media.
He isn’t the only Mexican excited about BTC in Miami right now because senator Indira Kempis who represents the State of Nuevo Leon said that she is also going to propose making BTC legal in Latin America. It wasn’t clear how realistic this announcement was and how much of it was just bitcoin hype.
As earlier reported, Ricardo Salinas vows to make better conditions for crypto users in the country after he doubled down on his support for BTC revealing plans to open the first accepting crypto bank in the country. The Mexican billionaire showed support for the widespread adoption of BTC and noted that the bank is working on becoming the first in Mexico to accept the world’s leading digital asset. The comments follow a strong endorsement for BTC by Salinas who initially stated that it was right to think of BTC as the new gold.
