A new concept of a free crypto school was recently launched by one of the leading VC firms in the cryptocurrency space, Andreessen Horowitz. The seven-week crypto startup school is now scheduled to kick off in February 2020.
Meanwhile, the VC firm is well known and present in the Coinbase news, updates on Ripple and is linked to many other industry names. It publicly announced the crypto school program on November 8.
The announcement also noted that the program will entail lectures held in person in Menlo Park, California. The free crypto school will cover a broad curriculum for those seeking to found blockchain startups. In parallel to this, we could see videos and curriculum materials as freely accessible online.
A16z also stressed that it will not take any equity from participants in the educational initiative but will instead accelerate the development of existing blockchain focused projects and encourage more talent in joining the sector.
A selection of experienced entrepreneurs and technologists will coach the students in different areas including product and technology design, organization development, go-to market strategies and legal/regulatory best practices.
With the free crypto school, A16z outlines that this is needed for students all around the world.
“Blockchains have endured a variety of challenges, false starts, and misconceptions. Some of the challenges are technical (e.g., scalability), some are product related (e.g., user experience), but many are due to the lack of widespread understanding of the technology’s capabilities, and the best practices required to take it mainstream.”
Aside from focusing on cryptocurrencies, the free crypto school will also cover the blockchain technology and the review the blockchain news which from many different aspects.
As we also reported earlier this month, France is about to introduce an educational module to its high school curriculum covering Bitcoin (BTC) and cryptocurrencies. In February of this year, Ripple also unveiled the latest new partners in its global University Blockchain Research Initiative, including many universities from China, Brazil, Singapore and the United States.
As a distinct from the A16z industry and its VC firm expertise, there have been a lot of higher education institutions who globally launched their own internal blockchain laboratories, research centers and degree programs with certificates – including MIT in the US and the IT University of Copenhagen.
