If you haven’t heard about Roger Ver, you should know that he is one of the most popular analysts in the crypto world. As a promoter of Bitcoin Cash, he is confident about BCH eventually overtaking Bitcoin and becoming the world’s most valuable cryptocurrency. However, before that happens, Ver believes that Ethereum will take Bitcoin’s crown.
Known as “Bitcoin Jesus” by some fans, Ver is confident that the technologically superior cryptocurrencies like Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) will surpass Bitcoin (BTC) in value in the coming months and years. As he told Independent, he believes that this will happen by 2020.
In the crypto world, this supposed development is known as “The Flippening”.
Ver also pointed to slow transaction times, high fees and other complications that are undermining Bitcoin. As he noted, more than 1,500 cryptocurrencies have entered the market since the inception of Bitcoin in 2009 – all in attempts to overcome it’s “limitations”.
Judging from the past 12 months, this scenario is entirely possible. Bitcoin’s price has jumped 450% from $1,700 to $9,360 – while Ethereum has gained 1,000% rising to $764 – and Bitcoin Cash moved from $500 in August to $1,655.
On top of this, Ethereum has five times as many units in circulation as Bitcoin – and Bitcoin Cash is also dominant in many ways compared to the largest cryptocurrency, Bitcoin. As Roger Ver stated in January this year:
“BCH is the same version of bitcoin that everyone fell in love with and used from 2009 until 2017,” he said. “It has the same economic code that led to it becoming a worldwide phenomenon. I’m sure that formula will continue to work for BCH into the future, and it will surpass BTC in usage, popularity, and market cap in the near future.”
Meanwhile, the cryptocurrency market has declined by more than $50 billion over the past 24 hours.
