The rise of Bitcoin has helped a lot of companies to embrace the virtual coin as something that is worth keeping. However, it seems that even the largest companies out there want a fair slice of the pie. Ebay, one of the world’s largest eCommerce giants, is considering the leap forward to adding Bitcoin as an official payment method.
The entire story has been told by a high-ranking company executive named Scott Cutler. Cutler is the senior vice president of eBay Americas. In an interview with Yahoo Finance, he said that the eCommerce giant has a lot of plans about becoming a high-profile company that will accept crypto payments in the future.
As Cutler said, “This is a trend that everybody is talking about, but sadly, at eBay, we don’t currently accept bitcoin as a form of payment. However, we’re seriously considering it as these cryptocurrencies become more of a mainstream.
Cutler also claimed that the company is “not there yet” regarding cryptocurrencies, pointing to the fact that there should be some regulation for it out there. What’s interesting is that eBay serves as a popular secondary market for cryptocurrency mining hardware and a lot of third-party sellers have listed thousands of crypto-related collectibles on it.
In other news, the fact that eBay is holding high-level discussions on the matter of accepting Bitcoin as a payment method tells us that we are moving to a crypto future. Coincidence or not, last week the bitcoin brokerage app Coinbase became the top app in the Apple Store, which is another proof that crypto trading is trending nowadays.
