Coinbase, which is one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges out there, is in the latest crypto news again – this time for hiring the former head of analytics at LinkedIn as its new data chief. This comes in time when the market is recovering and when Bitcoin, Ethereum and other altcoins are pushing a new surge in their price.
We are talking about Michael Li, who is a senior LinkedIn executive known for his involvement in the professional networking platform for more than seven years. Now, Li is taking the role of a vice president of data at Coinbase, shifting his career and making use of his knowledge about data into financial services, eCommerce and social networks.
As Li wrote in a blog post, there are “endless possibilities for using data in the field of blockchain and cryptocurrencies.” He also added:
“I am thrilled by the opportunity to define and evolve the role data can play in a rapidly emerging space, combining an innovative mindset to solve new challenges with learnings from my past experience,”
Li is also confident about data and its relation to Coinbase’s mission. As he further added:
“Data will be essential to empowering Coinbase’s mission, and core to company’s strategy to deliver the most trusted and easiest-to-use cryptocurrency products and services. I feel privileged to take on this challenging and rewarding new role to start the next chapter of my career.”
With this, Coinbase’s year-long push to expand its leadership team is now one step ahead. Over the past year, the exchange hired vice presidents for finance, communications as well as engineering, along with new chief financial and compliance officers.
