Coinbase Commerce Announces WooCommerce Plugin For Online Merchants

One of the leading crypto exchanges in the world, Coinbase, has recently launched a new series of initiatives that will support crypto commerce.

One of the most interesting announcements which will be beneficial for crypto holders and institutions is the introduction of a WooCommerce plugin that will give millions of merchants the option to accept cryptocurrencies.

The merchants will also be able to send Bitcoin and Litecoin directly and enjoy many new capabilities. As reported by Coinbase, the improved access will support the adoption of cryptocurrency and a more open financial system.

In case you didn’t know, WooCommerce is a plugin which is tailored to the needs of e-commerce stores on WordPress, the largest content management system out there. Currently, the WooCommerce plugin supports more than 28% of all the online stores in the world. Soon, all of these stores will be able to accept cryptocurrency payments from customers worldwide.

The WooCommerce payment gateway can be directly installed via GitHub, from where the users can download a zip file of the repository.

Earlier this year, Coinbase announced its plans to allow merchants to accept multiple cryptocurrencies through a user-controlled wallet. In March, Reddit followed this initiative and began accepting Bitcoin payments for its Reddit Gold subscriptions. However, Reddit later shut down these payments – but according to recent sources – said that it was going to evaluate the demand and progress of Coinbase Commerce.
