The dominant Bitcoin mining firm named Bitmain is in the crypto news today, after announcing that it will release its next generation of application-specific integrated circuit chip miners (ASIC) this week.
Bitmain, which is the most valuable company in the cryptocurrency industry, has revealed the news in a tweet posted on its ‘Antminer’ profile. The tweet also noted that it will be taking preorders for the Antminer S15 and Antminer T15 – which are the long-awaited next generation devices in its Bitcoin mining rig line.

These chip miners are the successors to the Antminer S9 and the Antminer S9 respectively, and feature Bitmain’s new 7nm ASIC chips which the CEO Jihan Wu unveiled in September at the World Digital Summit.
According to the company, the new chips feature significant efficiency improvements and can achieve a peak energy consumption ratio of 42W/TH. However, the consumption ratio will be somewhat higher, even though there haven’t been many details around it.
The devices will be able to mine Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and other cryptocurrencies that fall under the category ‘SHA256’ and feature “industry-leading hashrates” even as rivals Ebang and Bitfury noted that their devices will likely achieve greater efficiency.
Bitmain, however, could see decreased revenue from sales to US miners mostly because of Trump’s recent trade policies which slapped China-produced cryptocurrency miners with a 27.6% tariff which makes it increasingly difficult for US miners to turn a profit.
