A new Bitcoin project is featured in the latest cryptonews in Spain and all around the world. As we can see, 350 members of the lower house of the Spanish Parliament have become new BTC holders through a BTC awareness drive. The initiative took inspiration from the Chamber of Digital Commerce and its “Crypto for Congress” campaign which took place on October 5.
So, 350 members of the Spanish parliament have received an Euro worth of BTC, a move that mirrors the ‘Crypto for Congress Educational Initiative’ which was launched by the Washington-based Chamber of Digital Commerce to acquaint Members of the United States Congress with blockchain technology.
Reports from ABC (known as the third largest national daily news) show that Tutellus, a blockchain focused educational platform, along with Blockchain Observatory launched an initiative which will appraise the country’s lawmakers about Bitcoin and blockchain technology.
Going by the specifics of the transactions, all of the 350 members which are deputies of the Spanish congress received 1 EUR worth of BTC. Blockchain Observatory took it to the media and said:
The objective of both is to make the Spanish political class aware of the transcendental role that cryptocurrencies are playing in the transformation of the economy and society.
At this point, it is very interesting to note that initially, the organizations intended to send 1 EUR worth of Bitcoin to each MP of the house. However, the unavailability of email addresses (on the official website of the Spanish Congress) created a problem, and was why the Bitcoin news showed sending the BTC to each of the emails of the ten political groups.
“It is not a donation. Probably many of your Lordships already have some experience in the use of cryptocurrencies, but we would like that those who are not yet familiar with the new money, have the opportunity to get in touch with it,” said Miguel Caballero, the founder of Tutellus.
The entire move is part of a Crypto for Congress initiative, where Tutellus and Blockchain Observatory want to build Bitcoin awareness. The educational campaign also had the support of other members of blockchain organizations.
In times when lawmakers are becoming new Bitcoin holders, Spain’s focus is to promote the space and how beneficial it could be for people, especially high-net-worth individuals.
