A new system called the EARN IT Act threatens to kill end-to-end encryption and says that it is fully Bitcoin Cash powered. According to one developer working on the project, BCH is forming the ground base for all of the achievements.
It all started when the Bitcoin Cash developer Chris Troutner took the fight for privacy to new levels and created a new encrypted messaging system which harnesses Bitcoin Cash (BCH) transactions. The system is dubbed bch-encrypt and works in a similar way to email encryption.
“In email, you get someone’s public key, encrypt the message, and only the person with the private key can decrypt the message,” Troutner told the media.
Within the system, anyone can encrypt a message as long as they have a Bitcoin Cash address. The message will then get written to the blockchain and only a person with that private key held by the specified address can decrypt it.
As the blockchain news show, this idea was developed by Troutner as a response to the Eliminating Abusive and Rampant Neglect of Interactive Technologies (“EARN IT”) Act which is currently a major subject of hearings in the US Senate. In addition, the EFF has shared a lot of details about “how bad” the system actually is.
How bad is the EARN IT Act? In addition to being an attack on encryption, it also violates the Constitution. Congress must reject the bill. https://t.co/gGbHEVfmLN

“To prove how ineffective these lawmakers will be, I put this video demo of some software I wrote. It lets you encrypt a message and send it to someone using Bitcoin Cash,” Troutner wrote on a Reddit thread. “There isn’t a damn thing any state actor can do to stop the communication or break the encryption. Bitcoin does not respect laws.”
The Bitcoin Cash powered system leverages the BTC protocol. This is why Troutner believes that there is no way for any company to use it to comply with the Earn It Act.

When it comes to any limitations, the Bitcoin Cash news today show that there should not be any issues as long as the system omits large files. “This technique could be expanded by leveraging IPFS, in order to encrypt and share large files,” Troutner said.
Currently, bch-encrypt exists only on GitHub – but Troutner intends to streamline the system and make it more widely accessible.
