Binance’s Zhao, the CEO of the exchange was exposed attempting to illegally boost the Twitter profile of the crypto exchange Binance using Twitter bots. In today’s Binance news we take a closer look at the latest scandal.
Some commentators on the recent post by Binance’s Zhao or CZ, all made the same spelling mistake confusing the name of the exchange with ‘Binace.’’ The spelling mistake drew attention to the fact that they were 100 percent identical. Some of the other tweets were also found later taking the toll of the identical misspelled bot-posts to three and Twitter has attempted to crack down on the users employing the spam-bots for personal or political purposes. The Social media giant changed the rules in 2018 to try and dismantle bot accounts and has the freedom to ban the accounts they deem have made ‘’identical or substantially similar’’ posts.
The head of the platform CZ was celebrating the recent article by Bloomberg which referred to Binance Coin as the ‘’best-performing crypto’’ and the fake posts would have been unidentifiable were it not for the fact that they were repeated. Scanning through the rest of the replies on CZ’s post asks the question which is how many bots are in use?
The close friend of Changpeng Zhao and the fellow crypto entrepreneur Justin Sun has also been in the middle of the Twitter-bot controversy in the past. Sun managed to acquire 2.1 million Twitter followers in less than two years which became the largest following in the cryptosphere by far. The analysis of Google search interest for his flagship crypto-TRON which reveals a glaring discrepancy. Ethereum attracted more searches on Google than Tron did across most of this year.
Yet, the ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin still has just over a third of the Twitter followers of Sun. This is despite the fact that Ethereum was created about four years ago before Tron. Both Justin Sun and Binance’s CZ reacted to the Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s plans to create a decentralized social media protocol. If his plans come true, would this make fake accounts harder to spot or much easier?
