The Russia-Ukraine war issue had major repercussions in the crypto universe to the point that was called the world’s first crypto war. On the Ukrainian side, the government started accepting donations of BTC, ETH, and stablecoins in an attempt to raise the budget for the war. Ukraine’s wallets ramped up to start accepting other altcoins like DOGE, DOT to reach several million dollars in funds. Of those funds, Ukraine spent $15 million on military equipment and there’s no information on the expenditures that were allocated for humanitarian work.
On the other hand, a lot has been speculated about the chance of Russia to turn to cryptocurrencies as a way to void sanctions imposed by the US and allied countries but there has been no official announcement on the matter.
