Sending crypto on Twitter and Facebook is now possible thanks to the Mask network as we are reading more in today’s crypto news.
Mask Network will facilitate crypto transactions on Facebook and Twitter through a third-party plugin so sending crypto on social media will become soon available. Ethereum’s creator Vitalik Buterin endorsed the application too. Mask Network has launched a crypto trading widget for social media users as it was explained in the blog post from the project. With the latest plugin, crypto users can now send payments and exchange cryptocurrency as well as borrow, buy token sale and follow other trades. You can also bet in prediction markets and make use of the portfolio analysis tools.

Mask Network offers Facebook and Twitter integration that is powered by two services Coinmarketcap and Uniswap. The feature can be accessed through web browser plugins or the mobile app as well. Further versions of the app include Facebook and a full suite of Defi apps according to the company. The data transfers and content monetization are on the way as well as Suji Yan, the co-founder of the Mask Network said:
“We’re here to empower a decentralized alliance, including NFTs, DeFi, DAOs , decentralized storage, Layer 2, and other subsections of crypto. Our ultimate goal is to create the bridge and dilute/migrate the value away from centralized platforms.”
Ethereum’s creator Vitalik Buterin endorsed the app earlier this year by retweeting the company’s promotional campaign but as it turns out the Mask Network is not the first project to support crypto payments via the social media. Other apps such as iPayYou, Tippin.me, and Lite.im have all pursued similar goals. The crypto-enabled browser Brave supports Twitter tipping as well. There’s little support for crypto on most social media sites as Twitter has no plans to integrate crypto payments. Facebook’s plans for libra are slowing down as Telegram abandoned its TON blockchain project.
Only Reddit integrated cryptocurrency and has a limited number of subreddits. As such, the market for a third-party crypto plugin is wide open and whether Mask Network will gain popularity, still remains to be seen. A Reddit-inspired platform Discussions.app and the expansion to the Telos network will collaborate on the tools to record Twitter and other social media accounts on the blockchain.
