eBay considers adding crypto payment options to its platform according to the company’s CEO Jamie Iannone as we can see more in our latest crypto news today.
The major online marketing platform eBay considers adding crypto payment options while also exploring the NFT industry. Speaking with an interview with CNBC, CEO Jamie Iannone stated that the e-commerce giant is looking to add other payment options like crypto to its platform. While Iannone doesn’t say when the company would start accepting crypto payments, he also didn’t mention the exact crypto that it will be accepted but a statement from eBay indicates that it was in no hurry to enable the crypto payment option:
“We are always looking at the most relevant forms of payment and will continue to assess that going forward. We have no immediate plans, but it (cryptocurrency) is something we are keeping an eye on.”
The crypto industry saw an increase in mainstream adoption from major companies and a number of companies already started accepting BTC and other assets as a payment method. Back in March, we saw vehicle manufacturer Tesla announced that the customers can pay for its products with BTC. Major wine seller Acker also announced that they added BTC, ETH, Bitcoin Cash, and DOGE as a payment option. WeWork, the workplace provider also joined the list of companies to enable crypto payments on the platform and US food chain giant Landry’s also revealed it would start accepting BTC payments.

PayPal also announced it will launch a crypto checkout service. The new service will allow the customers to use crypto like ETH, BCH, BTC, and LTC and make purchases across millions of merchants supported b the company. The eBay CEO also said they are exploring the NFT sector:
“One of the great things about eBay is that when there is a new trend it just shows up on eBay. That’s what we are seeing in areas like NFT, which we are looking at how can we explore that better, because eBay is really known as the place to transact goods. We are looking at it and exploring opportunities for how we can enable it on eBay in an easy way. When you think about collectibles, everything that is really collectible has been known eBay for decades and will continue to be for the next few decades.”
