Daniel Ricciardo of McLaren partnered with the OKX crypto exchange to become the global ambassador for the 2022/23 racing season so let’s have a closer look at our latest cryptocurrency news.
F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo who races for the McLaren Formula 1 team, painted with the Seychelles-based digital asset exchange OKX with him serving as the global ambassador of the company in the 2022/23 season and leading the educational campaign for the F1 fans that focused on the crypto merits. After the start of May, OKX inked a deal with Formula 1 squad to become the official primary partner and become the team’s biggest sponsor.
As per the recent press release, OKX took the collaboration a step further by joining forces with Danial Ricciardo as one of the two leading pilots of McLaren racing so apart from serving as the ambassador, the driver will support the global campaign that will aim to popularize cryptos among the F1 fans and to educate them on how to enter the crypto space. The designers will create a special edition racing helmet with the OKX logo which Ricciardo will wear during the racing season. The 2022 Monaco Grand Prix will also be the first track where the driver will show his new outfit. McLaren’s pilot said he is honored to collaborate with the crypto platform and described it as the leader in the industry:
“The fan experience is going to be at the center of everything we do together, so expect big things from us this year. Game on.”
Commenting on the move was Chief Marketing Officer at OKX Haider Rafique who said that Ricciardo’s passion for crypto makes him a great fit for the company’s vision. The time of the deal is spot-on since the Monaco Grand Prix is a race special to Daniel. The F1 team dipped its toes into the NFT space and last year it launched the NFT platform on the Tezos blockchain. The feature was called “McLaren racing Collective” and will give suppliers a chance to own a piece of their favorite brand by purchasing digital collectibles.
It’s worth mentioning that the first NFT drop showed different digital parts of the MCL35M 2021 Formula 1 race car built from the official McLaren Racing CAD. To celebrate this move, the company decided to gift collectibles with the iconic vehicle to the first 5000 people that join the platform.
