The upcoming Visa cards for Canadian citizens are coming in early next year and are considered as another step in the country’s turn towards crypto adoption. The citizens of Canada are now able to apply for the new Visa cards as the plans are for the shipment to begin in January 2021. The country’s recent addition to the list of locations where the crypto exchange card will be available soon. The latest release follows the launches back in Singapore in 2018, the United States in 2019, and in Europe in 2020.
According to the official publication, the upcoming Visa card will not have annual fees. ATM withdrawals will be deprived of fees and foreign transaction charges as well so the card will also offer a rebate for digital channels like Amazon Prime, Spotify, and Netflix. As Crypto.com issues Visa cards, it will offer the card tiers an airport lounge access and 8% back in CRO rewards. According to the announcement, the recent move of the exchange in the inclusion of Canada is a smart step but an expected one for the company which is prompted by the country’s growing interest in crypto:
“Expanding its reach in Canada is a natural next step for Crypto.com, as the country is moving rapidly in its adoption of cryptocurrencies.”
The country happened to be a frequent participant in crypto-related projects. Back in September, the Royal Bank of Canada announced its plans for launching a BTC trading platform as per an official release, the financial institution said it is exploring a digital asset trading platform for in-store and online purchases and investments too. According to the announcement, the bank is looking into allowing the customers to open bank accounts that contain digital currencies so if the plans become a reality, RBC will be the first bank in Canada to launch a crypto exchange and to start offering accounts for digital assets. In another crypto-related event, a Canadian joint venture launched the first stablecoin that is pegged to the Canadian Dollar. Now, the users can trade the new QCAD against BTC, ETH, and USDC as well as Bitvo and Balance.
