The Band Protocol CTO issued a statement that denies the latest allegations that he is the lead developer of the SushiSwap protocol-Chef Nomi so let’s find out more in our latest Altcoin news.
The cross-chain data oracle platform Band Protocol CTO Sorawit Suriyakarn issued a statement refuting the claims that he is the creator of the SushiSwap protocol despite the arguments in the crypto community. Over the past few days, the lead developer of the popular sushiSwap protocol that stood behind the Twitter handle Chef Nomi, attracted a lot of attention. He sold off his tokens to “stop caring about the price and focus on the coding.”
Let’s clear the air: I am not Nomi Chef. It is shocking and amusing that people have made these claims. This is nothing more than a personal attack on me and a strike at Band.

The controversial move had massive consequences to the price of the SUSHI token which crashed by 70% at one point. After the prolonged Twitter discussions, Chef Nomi reacted by transferring control over the protocol to the FTC CEO Sam Bankman-Fried. The attention he got caused a lot of speculations including who is the person behind the Twitter handle. One of the theories in the community is that Chef Nomi is the Chief Technology Officer of Band Protocol Sorawit Suriyakarn.
The evidence brought up was a little precarious thing. The community member revealed that Band Protocol and SushiSwap shared the same hosting service and that Chef Nomi and Suriyarkarn have similar tests for games because they both like Hearthstone. The CTO of Band Protocol was quick to repudiate the claims as he said that the speculations are shocking and amusing and that he physically doesn’t have time to develop another project while working full time for Band Protocol.
Band Protocol issued an official statement explaining that Suriyakarn “often reviews the code for other projects as it is commonplace within the industry and did a review of the initial code deployment of SushiSwap to make sure it was safe for public use.” The post said that “we were not involved in the operation of SushiSwap in any capacity.”
The evidence mentioned above, Band Protocol noted that more than 100 million players play Hearthstone. The common interest shared by Chef Nomi and Band’s CTO doesn’t mean that Sorawit is Chef Nomi. The chainlink rival explained that the hosting service employed by the two protocols is “well-known and award-winning” and has been used by numerous tech companies but Band Protocol has decided to change the hosting service to avoid further confusion.”
