Andre Cronje announced recently that he will be leaving the crypto space entirely along with Anton Nell, who Is another developer who worked with him but this time, he confirmed his decision as we can see more today in our latest cryptocurrency news today.
The biggest story this week was the departure of Andre Cronje from the DEFI space. He was a hugely influential character in the industry since the launch of Yearn Fiannce back in 2020. the project’s native token YFI went from $0 to $40,000 in a few months and earned the blue-chip status in the DEFI space. Andre Cronje announced again that he is leaving but at this time, it looks like it is for good.
Back in March 2020, he quit crypto because of the toxic community but returned. He then quit against in August and it was a mess but this time it is likely certain. Anton Nell who also worked with Cronje and the senior architect to the Fantom Foundation and said that they both decided to close the chapter of contributing to the DEFI space. Nell added:
“Unlike previous ‘building in defi sucks’ rage quits, this is not a knee jerk reaction to the hate received from releasing a project, but a decision that has been coming for a while now.”
Nell said that about 25 apps and services related to the dynamic due will be terminated in April. The biggest notable affected apps like Yearn Finance, Multichain, and Keeper NEtwork already migrated to other domains and will appear they will continue to be maintained by the respective communities. The website for yearn.fi will also be shut down and the users will use the same service at Yearn.finance. The news caused mayhem for the tokens that were related to the projects as well as the various networks that Cronje and his crew influenced. YFI crashed from $20,000 to $18,000 in a few hours and YFI recouped the losses which is a bounce that can be attributed to DeFi’s Twitterati remanding the folks that the hasn’t really contributed to Yearn in some time.
Banteg, the core developer of Yearn, stated that Andre hasn’t worked on Yearn for more than a year and added that the 50 full-time people are still maintaining the $3 billion project. Kp3R the token for Keeper Network was now as fortunate. The tokens dropped to $423 and then continued to fall further.
