Axie Infinity co-founder Jeff Zirlin thinks that gaming is actually the real key to crypto adoption and NFTs and axie infinity are just the first steps so let’s read more in our latest crypto news today.
Jeff Zirlin is the lead of the biggest NFT project ever created and co-founder of Axie Infinity, a monster battling game that boasts 1 million users with already generated $2.1 billion in sales. It also costs about $1500 to buy enough monsters that are required to play it but unlike other startups that crashed and burned, Zirlin keeps on growing his startup.
For a game based around battling and collecting assets, Zirlin noted:
“Axie is only maybe 6% complete. We’re looking at upgrading our battle system in the next six months. We also have a DEX on the way that I think our community is super excited about.”
Zirlin touted Axieland which is a game similar to Clash of Clans where the players are able to harvest resources, build towns, and the battle over territories. But what will happen when the community gets through the gameplay in Axieland and masters the decentralized exchange? Zirlin pointed out:
“The long-term vision, is that “we want Axie to be the first game to be owned and operated by the community that plays it.”
Sky Mavis, the Vietnamese development studio which worked on Axie, intends to let the community choose who will continue to make teh game and what new features will be implemented:
“There are so many game developers out there in the world that have really good ideas for games. But what do they lack? They lack a really strong IP; they lack the community that’s interested in playing it.”
He also noted that there are people that don’t like the game but still make art, content, and tutorials. Zirlin also thinks that DAOs or decentralized autonomous organizations are the keys to make crypto adoption rise. The AXS governance token earned by staking or from playing teh game is used to vote on teh key governance votes and even the project’s roadmap wants to delegate even more power to the token holders. Axie Infinity’s pole position will not go unchallenged as thousands of dollars were poured into the crypto games like Decentraland, Sorare, and the Sandbox. Zirlin believes that mroe competition is coming and said that it should help propel crypto towards the limelight:
“Younger indie game studios will likely incorporate blockchain faster than larger ones. Crypto is far from mainstream adoption. But gaming can get us there.”
