Akon Cryptocurrency City Starts Construction As Early As 2021

The Akon Cryptocurrency City will start construction as early as 2021 and will take up to eight years to be fully completed as we read more in the cryptocurrency news.

The Akon cryptocurrency city that looks futuristic will begin construction as early as 2021 and the city is referred to as “the Real-Life Wakanda” according to the popular singer and producer. He even hinted about the future plans of franchising his concept in other countries in Africa. The project was announced in mid-2018 and it gained mass attention because of its revolutionary idea to create a smart city running on renewable energy powered by Akon’s own cryptocurrency- Akoin.

The critics of the project have quickly dismantled the idea saying that the celebrity is trying to draw attention to himself as the futuristic city started to materialize when the KE international secured the contract for $6 billion to create the project. The US-based firm noted at the time that the two phases will be completed in eight years. The construction start date remained undisclosed until recently and according to the reports by the Global Herald, Akon announced the development stages that will start next year.

The R&B singer doubled down on his “Real-life Wakanda” city as he hopes that it will serve as a “home back home” option for all Africans that are living outside of the continent. Akon noted that the project will provide a lot of jobs for the locals and attract a lot of tourists until it is completed:

 “The system back home treats them unfairly in so many different ways that you can never imagine. And they only go through it because they feel that there is no other way. So if you are coming from America or Europe or elsewhere in the diaspora and you feel that you want to visit Africa, we want Senegal to be your first stop.”

Some of the designs for the Akon City were inspired by traditional African architecture but will also be made out of metal and glass. The planned hotel in the city will feature rooms that will be decorated for each of the 54 countries in Africa. Akon said that he doesn’t know what part of the construction materials will be sourced from the local cities and he couldn’t find a suitable architect in Africa so he had to employ people from Dubai.

Some of the features of Akon City includes a seaside resort, recording studios, tech hub, and a zone called “Senewood” which will boost the country’s film industry.
