A total of four jobs on the company’s careers website mention NFTs and these positions include Director and Sales Digital Marketing, Business Development, ESP Business Development, and Innovation, Manager, and Culture Trend Marketing Manager. The first of these job openings looking for a candidate that will help lead Disney’s efforts in the NFT space that including monitoring the marketplace and setting a new category strategy that will manage key partners.
Disney’s prospective culture Trend Marketing Manager will be asked to focus on how the Hulu streaming service can break through into other spaces rather than streaming and will include NFTs as well as metaverse and crypto. In turn, the sales and Digital Marketing Director will lead the efforts in emerging technologies like NFTs.

The last of the advertised positions is an internship that will run during the summer of 2022 and the intern will have to show understanding of the new technologies in the industry like blockchain, NFT, and cryptocurrency.
Disney already made a few inroads into the NFT space via licensing its IP for NFTs and last year it even partnered with VEVE digital collectibles platform to launch a series of NFTs that will feature Disney and Marvel characters. Ex-Disney CEO Bob Iger also hinted that the company has ambitions for NFTs and the metaverse in an interview with New York Times journalist Kara Swisher:
“When you think about all the copyright and trademarks, characters Disney has, and the NFT possibilities, they’re extraordinary.”
Iger expressed concerns about the level of IP Infringement in the NFT space and singled out the NFT marketplace OpenSea for the criticism:
“I was amazed at all the Disney stuff that was there, and most of it was pirated.”
Iger outlined the risks of toxic behavior in the metaverse and noted that this is something that the company will have to consider as is it talks about creating a metaverse.
