UFC champion Francis Ngannou revealed his plans to receive half of his salary in Bitcoin so let’s take a closer at today’s Bitcoin latest news.
The UFC Champion Francis Ngannou competes in the heavyweight division for the UFC and he is now considering joining the list of sportsmen that receive their salaries in BTC. The UFC champion revealed that he is a BTC believer and has been discussing the leading crypto with his family or friends. He also noted that he is bullish on the future of BTC and that is why he is considering taking half of the salary in bitcoin.
Been talking with my family and friends in the crypto space. #Bitcoin is huge in Africa and I’m thinking of taking half my fight purse in it. Bitcoin is the future and I’m a believer 🤔 @ufc #ufc270

The UFC heavyweight champion will face the MMA artist Ciryl Gane in the title unifier at UFC 270 at the end of January. As the reigning champion, Ngannou holds the world record for the hardest punch measured and he earns between $500K to $600K per match including bonuses. This could mean the fighter will get up to $250K in BTC if he proceeds with his decision to accept a part of his next salary in BTC. Paying Ngannou in BTC won’t be an issue for the UFC as the organization already has a sponsorship deal with Crypto.com. The collaboration worth around $175 million will last for 10 years and will see the logo displayed on fight kits using the UFC battles.
In the meantime, Ngannou noted that his fight against Gane could be the last for UFC as his contract with the company is expiring. He doesn’t wish to extend it because of unfair paychecks and the fighter even said he is open to signing a new deal with the boxing option for higher pay. The sports athletes are showing interest in BTC and crypto so Ngannou will not be the first sports star to receive his paycheck in BTC. Last year in November we saw Odell Beckham Jr, announce a partnership deal with Cash app to receive $4.25 million salaries for the NFT season in BTC.
As recently reported, UFC will launch a new fan token dubbed $UFC, less than a month ago after the Ultimate Fighting Championship Endeavor parent company went public on the New York Stock Exchange. This week, more news is coming in as UFC announced their goal of minting their own UFC fan token in June. In releasing the UFC token, the league partnered with entertainment and sport blockchain specialists Chilliz.
