Former US President Donald Trump says crypto is dangerous and continues to bash the sector but he did praise his wife’s NFT project that we reported about it a few days ago so let’s read more now in today’s cryptocurrency news.
The ex-US President Donald Trump says crypto is dangerous and made that known once again that the only currency he wants is the US dollar. Trump was a critic of crypto for quite some time now and the outlook is not changing despite his wife entering into the NFT industry. The former FLOTUS Melania Trump warmed up to the idea of NFTs and even launched a project while her husband believes that crypto is dangerous.
In a recent interview with Fox Business, Donald Trump revealed that he didn’t like BTC and other cryptocurrencies, and like with many other crypto naysayers, Trump didn’t really explain why he thinks investing in these assets is dangerous but only said:
“I never loved it because I like to have the Dollar. I think the currency should be the Dollar. So, I was never a big fan. But it is spilling up bigger and bigger. Nobody is doing anything about it. I don’t want to have all these other (cryptocurrencies).

There could be an explosion someday, the likes of which we’ve never seen. It will make the big tech explosion look like baby stuff. I think it’s a very dangerous thing”
Trump could have stayed away from tapping into the evolving industry but his wife Melania Trump chose a different path. The former first lady announced the launch of her NFT platform on the Solana Blockchain. Melania’s entry into the NFT space ignited a series of discussions and debates but Trump supports her endeavors despite his own skepticism. For Trump, the US dollar is everything and he has been quite vocal about it from the start of his presidency.
In a different interview, he stated that the US should be careful with regards to crypto citing China as the main reason. As president, he had earlier said that he doesn’t consider BTC to be real money because of its volatile nature. It was when he made the infamous “based on thin air” argument while in the same statement he stressed the unregulated crypto can even spark unlawful behavior and illegal activity. Trump invoked the dollar’s credibility when it comes to the financial infrastructure and stated that he doesn’t want to have other currencies that will simply pop up and demean the dollar in any way.
