Solana’s first multiplayer game hit a new milestone after activating NFT avatars with 2 million players so let’s find out more in our latest altcoin news today.
Solana’s first multiplayer game has more than 2 million total registered users and a week ago, the first-person shooter Mini Royale: Nations became the first live multiplayer game and run on Solana after the launch of the first in-game NFT items so now the developer Faraway marked a new milestone and doubled the number of players over the past month.

Mini Royale: Nations surpassed more than 2 million total registered players including more than 600,000 monthly active users which are more than double the previous MAU high mark that Faraway co-founder Alex Paley explained. The game had been live for a few months already as a free-to-play online multiplayer game without blockchain integration but Faraway also launched a series of 10,000 in-game items sold at Solana’s NFT at the start of December and then activated them within the game on December 16th. As mentioned, Mini Royale: Nations is the first online game to run on the Solana Blockchain and to feature live, multiplayer action. The NFT acts like a deed of ownership to the unique digital items and in this case, the one-of-a-kind game avatar can be held by only one user.

According to Faraway, the NFT sale that took place on Solana’s marketplace, Magic Eden brought in more than $1 million and sold out in 30 seconds. The owners that hold onto their NFT throughout Mini Royale Nations’ first season will receive benefits like the game’s upcoming Cheddar Token. While the game features fully-optional NFT collectibles, the team avoided pushing hard on the NFT-centric messaging and it is not billing Mini Royale as a play-to-earn game. That’s a huge contrast to Ethereum’s Axie Infinity game that has more than $3.7 billion worth of NFTs trading volume up to date.

Paley continued that Fareway is focusing on other concepts like True ownership, open economies, and more:
“Our positioning is that we have a goal of making hyper-social games with player-driven economies and that a blockchain is a tool for enabling these open economies. This narrative has resonated across the board—gamers and crypto people alike. I think games that have steered too much into the ‘play-to-earn’ or ‘OMG NFT’ narrative have seen an allergic reaction from the ‘true gamer’ crowd, so we have been careful to avoid that.”
