The Coinbase wallet added NFT browsing feature allowing users to view their NFT collections directly in the web browsers as we can see more today in our latest Coinbase news.
The NFT feature is a part of Coinbase’s efforts to make Web3 easier to navigate. The exchange is also expected to reveal an NFT marketplace that will compete with OpenSea in the near future. Coinbase announced that the NFT owners will be able to see their collections in the web browsers directly which is something through which the company shows its efforts to reduce the friction that users have when navigating the broader world of crypto.

And later this week, we are launching support for NFTs in the browser extension. View your NFT collection in Wallet extension, see your NFTs’ attributes, and easily access popular NFT marketplaces like @OpenSea. pic.twitter.com/nRC4ypEQyo

The browser tool is a part of the coinbase wallet which is a separate service from the company’s main exchange platform and looks similar to the MetaMask competitor what is designed to allow users access NFTs and DeFi apps but also other elements of the emerging world of Web3. Both Coinbase Wallet and MetaMask started as mobile applications but then evolved to become accessible as browser extensions.
Coinbase Wallet executive Sid Coelho-Prabhu noted that the new NFT viewing tool will be coming to the Wallet in a few days and suggested users should update their Chrome browser settings to accommodate it:
“Soon, users will be able to view their NFT collection from within the Coinbase Wallet extension, easily see their NFTs’ attributes, and easily access popular NFT marketplaces like OpenSea.”
The browser announcement came right as Coinbase prepares to launch an NFT marketplace to compete with the OpenSea industry leader. Coinbase has yet to unveil the marketplace that the company says it will include social media features but then said it will arrive by the end of this year. In the meantime, Coelho-Prabu used the blog post to talk about other features of the wallet that help users keep track of the increasing number of networks where they could store their tokens:
“Coinbase Wallet will now show your token balances across all supported networks in one simple, unified view. In addition to assets held on the Ethereum mainnet, Wallet will display tokens on the Arbitrum, Avalanche, Binance Smart Chain, Fantom, Optimism, Polygon, and xdai networks.”
