The UK teen, a 19-year old from Nuneaton will spend two years in prison for drug trafficking as he participated in an attempt to import ecstasy that was purchased with BTC on the Dark Web. The police investigation discovered that the teen was dealing with ecstasy using Bitcoin and according to a recent report, Dylan Bailey from Arbuy Road used to import the drugs from abroad, aiming to sell the illegal substances to other individuals and used BTC to purchase the ecstasy from the Dark Web. The report stated that the teenager had a supplier in the Netherlands who sent him the drugs in a DVD case but the package was sent by post services with Dylan Bailey’s name on it. The parcel was discovered at the Royal Mail international logistics center while in the meantime, the police examined a few text messages on Bailey’s phone which proved that he was selling the drugs in the past.
As per the allegations, the officer at the Royal Mail international logistics center checked and spotted the package that was addressed to Bailey. In it, he found the DVD case with a sealed package that consists of 83 pink tables. They were all with a logo on it similar to the one of Coca Cola. The post officer carried out the test and proved that the tables are in fact ecstasy with a value of about $5 per piece. Later on, the authorities arrested Bailey at his home.
The police investigations determined that Bailey has been advertising and offering the product to other people and said that he sells “high strength Super Mario pills” while some of the clients’ offers reached almost $50 per tablet. In another crypto-related case, the police arrested ten individuals from Malta as they allegedly hijacked the mobile phones of a few celebrities to steal their personal ID. The statement from Europol said that the group stole more than $100 million in crypto and the operation used the popular SIM swap attack which means that the criminals will deactivate their targets’ SIM cards and will transfer them to another system for possession of the group.
After gaining access to their phone numbers, the operation members took over the installed apps by using passwords and reset codes but they also stole personal data in the process.
