Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park has just auctioned his first NFT and he will be donating the proceeds to an ArtCenter scholarship so let’s find out more in today’s cryptocurrency news.
Mike Shinoda has intrigued by the concept of blockchain art and wants to produce many more NFTs. Gradually more visual artists decided to migrate over to the NFTs as their preferred method of distribution. Linkin Park songwriter Mike Shinoda announced on Twitter that his first piece of NFT art was completed and called One-Hundredth Stream which dropped on the Zora auction site a day ago. The highest bid as of this writing comes to 18,000 DAI and since it is pegged to the US dollar, that’s about $18,000 in the non-digital world.
Shinoda then announced that there was more to come before going on to expound the NFT merits as a way of distribution for working artists. Later that day, he tweeted:
“This should be very interesting for people who make unconventional art, or people who have been told their art isn’t art at all. Maybe it is. The community will decide.”
There’s a chance to own the “one-Hundredth Stream” as Shinoda gives you until 4 PM before he picks the winning bid. The proceeds will be sent to an ArtCentre scholarship that he is funding. He is also far from the first people that are established creatives to get into NFTs. Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland also sold his NFT collection for 1300 ETH or $1.65 million. Justin Roiland decided to soon launch a lineup of non-fungible token- NFT artwork as the Nifty Gateway digital art platform. This move marks his first foray in the crypto and NFT market which gained prominence over the past year with the niche audience that’s willing to shell out major amounts on crypto art.
If you’re interested in owning ‘One-Hundredth Stream, Shinoda gives you till 4PM PST tomorrow before he picks the winning bid. The proceeds will go towards an ArtCentre scholarship he is funding. Rapper MF Doom also dropped a collection of wearables so his fans could purchase it and enjoy the style of augmented reality. The auctions concluded the day he was pronounced dead which made the masks his last announced creative endeavor.
