The Alibaba Ant Group, which is a daughter firm of the eCommerce giant, is apparently continuing its relentless blockchain drive with a new move which could see it recruiting top blockchain talent over the next 20 years.
New reports in the crypto news coming from Jiemian show that the Ant Blockchain subsidiary of Alibaba Ant Group has launched a long-term recruitment plan which would include working with “global universities” and top domestic tech universities, too.
This plan will also see the company, which is based in Hangzhou, to recruit an “unspecified” amount of blockchain trained people who will focus on talent pools at IT colleges. The company also added that its goal is to set up a technical team which will be in motion in “the next 20 years” and also plans to invest funds in research and development in “core blockchain technologies” that include distributed ledger advances, assymetric cryptography as well as consensus mechanisms.
Also, the Alibaba Ant Group is in the blockchain news for showing interest for America’s top tech university, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Several leading Chinese universities are also in Ant’s sights, including Shanghai Jiaotong University, the East China Normal University and Sun Yat-sen University.
Days after Ant sealed a brand new deal with the domestic shipping giant COSCO, the move is now set to help the shipping firm adopt blockchain technology in its operations. Ant operates the Alipay e-pay solution which along with the Tencent WeChat Pay rival, is now accounting for around 15% of the entire Chinese payments marketplace.
In the near future, experts believe that the Alibaba Ant Group will work related to Alipay and WeChat Pay, and the technologies could be used to help the central People’s Bank of China distribute the nation’s upcoming digital yuan.
All of this shows that Alibaba is starting to hunt for talent in the blockchain space and is inspired to enter this industry. If that happens, it can successfully pioneer the field of blockchain development, working by recruiting top talent and allocating it in various fields.
On a more global note, China is definitely starting to become a leader in research and development when it comes to blockchain.
