The IOTA Foundation recently announced that it is now a proud member of the Eclipse Foundation Board of Directors. With this, IOTA joins Huawei, Bosch and IBM and takes a further step, announcing that it is now joining some of the world’s largest companies.
In February this year, the IOTA Foundation founded the Tangle EE working group with the Eclipse Foundation and a couple of its strategic partners. Then, the news brought a lot of expectations for the potential of IOTA and the commercialisation of its technology.
Now, the group aims to accelerate the development and innovation rate of IOTA. Furthermore, the cooperation will enable the IOTA Foundation to provide its partner companies with a secure legal framework for their future developments based on the IOTa tangle.
Also, we can see that the Tangle EE working group includes the following 15 prominent companies and educational institutions. The companies include Dell Technologies, STMicroelectronics, Object Management Group, Software AG, Accessec, Energinet, BiiLabs, Calypso Network Association, AKITa, ENGIE Lab CRIGEN, RWTH Aachen, TM Forum Geometric Energy Corporation, Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg and IoTIFY.

The IOTA news also show that Dr. Navin Ramachandran will be the IOTA representative on the Board of Directors of the Eclipse Foundation. He is a medical doctor and has been a member of the IOTA Foundation since 2016.
As IOTA joins Huawei Bosch, IBM and others, Navin will be overseeing the steering committee on the Tangle EE working group and the advisory board of the UK all-party parliamentary group for the blockchain sector.
Launched in 2001 by the technology giant IBM, the Eclipse project has around 300 members now, all working to create open source software for business applications. Three years after its foundation, it currently manages around 375 open source projects. The Eclipse Project recently thanked IOTA for its contribution to the foundation’s transition to Europe.
