The VeChain Foundation and I-Dante have been working on a blockchain-based solution for hospitals which complies with the strict rules of the European Union and the general data protection regulation. As it stands, VeChain applies the new healthcare passport for a hospital in Cyprus, based on the Toolchain solution.
Named “The E-NewHealthLife” – the passport will be implemented in a first phase in the emergency department at the Mediterranean Hospital in Cyprus.
What we can also see from this is that the COVID-19 pandemic has shaken the world and took many industries by storm. However, the cryptonews show that even coins such as VET have powerful underlying technologies. Proof for that is the fact that VeChain applies the medical data management solution “The E-NewHealthLife” in Cyprus, where the hospital will be the first one to adopt the application.
With around 300 employees and 38,000 outpatient visits in 2019, the Cyprus hospital will benefit from the VeChain news and the new healthcare passport that is being deployed. As VeChain described in a blog post published yesterday, there is a dire need in the healthcare sector worldwide for a cost-effective and collaborative digital solution that will overcome the administrative and technical difficulties of merging data from different medical recording systems.
In this manner, the VeChain news are bringing a great system that is able to meet high data protection requirements. As VeChain applies the system into the hospital, we can see that the first phase will use a healthcare passport that is based on VeChain’s Toolchain solution – and be an encrypted NFC card that is assigned to each patient in the hospital.
Basically, “The E-NewHealthLife” gives the patient complete control over his medical data. The app will be used by the hospital management and staff in order to collect and record information about patients, with the resulting data packages being the sole property of the patient. Therefore, this data can only be disclosed to third parties with the consent of the owner.
“Based on concrete cases of multi party collaboration in various industries, VeChain has been accumulating experience in bridging trust and bringing in transparency into business while being compliant with local authorities and regulators. Given the huge potential of blockchain technology in the medical and healthcare sector, VeChain will continue to develop solutions for all stakeholders and pursue more opportunities in the near future,” the VeChain Foundation concluded.
