Ripple senior software developer Evan Schwartz quit the company after more than six years and in our XRP news today we find out why.
The ripple senior software developer posted on Twitter announcing that after working for 2,328 days at the crypto giant, he will be leaving the company to focus in coil as he said:
“After 2328 days or just under 6.5 years, today is my last day at @Ripple. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such an exciting ride; I’ll be cheering the team on from the outside. Keep on building the #InternetOfValue!”
Schwartz was among the co-inventors of the inter ledger protocol which is an open suite of protocols that connects the ledgers of all types and payment solutions which was at the base of Ripple’s vision of the Internet of value. After thanking everyone for the support and time spent together, Schwartz assured that the XRP community will still be involved in the Interledger project and web monetization platform Coil. His LinkedIn profile revealed that he is serving as a board member for Coil which is a platform that provides alternative methods for all of the creators to monetize their content online.
As the fans continue to consume content, the platform uses an open API called web monetization to stream all of the micropayments to creators instantly. The API is built on the Interledger protocol that Schwartz helped to create. Ripple’s investment arm, on the other hand, Xpring, participated in the $4 million seed round of Coil and provided a 1 billion XRP grant to the platform this August which was worth about $265 million at the time. The senior vice president of Xpring Ethan Beard commented:
“Advertising and site-by-site subscription models are ready for disruption […] The low cost and fast transactions of XRP make it an ideal tool for Coil to offer an alternative monetization method and have a positive impact on creators.”
As per the recent reports, Ripple has plans to utilize new meaningful partnerships in order to spread its presence in Brazil in 2020 according to a new report. It declares that after the signing of previous agreements with big banks in Brazil like Santander, Bradesco, and Rendimento, Ripple desires to begin using XRP for remittance payments.
