Boxing Champion Manny Pacquiao Launches His Own Cryptocurrency

The boxing champion and popular sports icon from the Philippines, Manny Pacquiao, has released his own cryptocurrency, the coming altcoin news show.

According to reports from the South China Morning Post, the Filipino boxer who turned politician and singer launched his own token with the financial support that he is getting from private investors. These include the ex-Liverpool and England soccer star Michael Owen as well as Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed al-Nahyan, who is a respected member of Abu Dhabi’s ruling family.

Named the Pac token, the new cryptocurrency released by Pacquiao will be listed on Singapore’s Global Crypto Offering Exchange (GCOX), paving the way for the boxing champion and his fans to buy merchandise and interact with him on social media.

As the GCOX founder and CEO Jeffrey Lin noted, the token is not intended to just raise money but also build a new token ecosystem. The boxing champion Manny Pacquiao currently holds the World Boxing Association welterweight title – and was first assumed office as a senator in the Philippines in June 2016.

Pacquiao was also popular because of his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. – which was watched by millions of people around the world. What’s interesting, as the altcoin news show, is the fact that both Pacquiao and the boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. are active in the field of crypto, which means that Pacquiao is now one step before Floyd with launching his own cryptocurrency, the Pac token.

This can be classified as a rate move in the industry. Even though cryptocurrencies have received a lot of celebrity endorsements before, digital coins which revolve around celebrities are still a novelty. Cryptocurrency is after all decentralized and its digital nature gives it a degree of independence from conventional currencies – all while keeping people invested in their favorite personality (in this case the boxing champion Pacquiao).

In the other latest news, many best cryptocurrency news sites also reported about the American singer and songwriter Jason Derulo who is also planning to launch his own cryptocurrency on the platform.

Pacquiao’s token won’t be the last one. As the news show, GCOX will serve as the home for digital currencies from the soccer star Owen, the singer Jason Derulo and the tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.
