Yesterday, the latest cryptocurrency news spoke about the cryptocurrency enthusiast and antivirus software founder John McAfee who apparently disappeared. Others said that McAfee was arrested. However, it seems like the latter were right – but John McAfee is released from the detainment after he posted a picture on his official Twitter account, stating:
“Leaving detention (don’t judge my looks – four days of confinement). I was well treated. My superiors were friendly and helpful. In spite of the helpful circumstances, we’ve decided to move on. More later.”
On July 23, a post was made on his Twitter account (probably by his campaign manager Rob Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Loggia-Ramirez) in which he said that McAfee and his boat crew had likely been detained. Now that John McAfee is released, we can probably trust the news – mostly because he announced that Loggia-Ramirez would be his presidential campaign manager in October 2018.
Meanwhile, a report by the Associated Press is circling in the best cryptocurrency news sites, appearing to have confirmed Loggia-Ramizer’s suspicion. As the report shows, McAfee was arrested on the north coast of the Dominican Republic while docking his yacht in Puerto Plata. After that, authorities seized high-calibre weapons and other military equipment from his vessel.
What’s notable to mention is that McAfee has been running a campaign for President of the United States from self-imposed exile. Now that John McAfee is released, he will likely continue to conduct the campaign from abroad (due to an alleged indictment by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS). For those who haven’t been following our altcoin news, McAfee recently said:
“The IRS has convened a grand jury in the state of Tennessee to charge myself, my wife […] and four of my campaign workers with unspecified IRS crimes of a felonious nature.”
He also pointed that his campaign is not a serious bid for office. However, now that John McAfee is released, he means to promote cryptocurrency with his campaign – which is his goal as he stated earlier.
In a recent interview with a news site, McAfee also pointed that he believes fiat money will be dead in 10 years, stating “I think in 10 years there’ll be no fiat anywhere in the world. Everything will be electronic, everything will be cryptocurrency.”
