A new report that was originally published by The Next Web shows that the blockchain job market is on the rise and there are more and more blockchain-related job opportunities. This technology has long led the cryptocurrency news and affected the price movements.
In order to create it, The Next Web conducted a lot of research using sites such as Glassdoor (which is one of the most popular job and recruiting websites) as well as other sites listing jobs where the term “blockchain” was found.
According to the research, there were approximately 5,700 blockchain jobs listed around the world. From these, nearly half of them were in the US (with about 2,600 offers) followed by the United Kingdom with 1,015 jobs and India with 257 vacancies accordingly.
The most common position, as The Next Web noted, was the role of a “Blockchain Engineer” followed by the “Senior Software Engineer” role and the “Blockchain Developer” title being the third one.
Surprisingly enough, many of these blockchain-related job openings were not posted from big name companies – but instead came from quite anonymous companies. According to the report:
“Major companies like IBM, Ernst & Young, and Oracle created the bulk of blockchain-related job postings found on today’s websites.”
However, the only companies that were related to cryptocurrencies that also fell in the top ten job posters included the names of Foris Limited, Crypto.com, and Wirex. Even though Ripple and ConsenSys did not fall in the top ten, they are both blockchain companies with active job offerings on sites such as Glassdoor.
In another report published by the recruitment company Hired, the demand for blockchain engineers has increased by 517% year over year, where the most global demand right now is for blockchain engineers – while security engineers and embedded engineers have taken the second and third place accordingly, experiencing 132% growth and 76% growth respectively.
All of these statistics show that blockchain industry is still in its infancy. However, it promises a lot as bigger companies are entering the space and looking to start their own crypto projects. The good thing is that everyone can benefit from this rise of popularity – and can learn the basics on blockchain technology as a crucial role in our society.
