The Israeli police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested at least two people who operated on the darknet. The police stated that they successfully traced multiple suspects who founded and operated a darknet site named Deep Dot Web which was a place where people could find illegal dark web marketplaces. Some of the listed websites offered drugs, weapons, stolen goods, and illicit goods according to the report. The announcement pointed out:
“The owners of the site raked in millions of dollars through an ‘affiliate marketing’ method, thereby earning from every sale done through them. The payment for the transactions was carried out using bitcoin.

The 2 suspects arrested in Israel will be brought before a judge for a hearing regarding their potential detention extension.”
The Israeli newspaper JPost and media outlet Tech Church reported that further arrests related to the case have also been made in other cross-border investigations. Some of them happened in Germany, France, Brazil, and the Netherlands. The Israeli police say that the two arrested men were in their 30s and they will face trials in the country. The bitcoin-enabled dark web offered services such as the Tor browser which helps users remain anonymous by covering up their IP address.
The darknet marketplaces can also be accessed with the help of the Tor browser since it uses the so-called onion routing which helps the users cover their identity as the latest cryptocurrency news report. The Deep Dot Web arrests came after the German police and Europol collaborated in order to take down the platform. The action led to the seizure of millions in cash and cryptocurrencies and also arresting three German citizens.
Cryptocurrency has been used in darknet dealings for quite some time now and has become popular with the closing down of the illicit Silk Road marketplace. Many believe that Bitcoin may lose its position as the number one cryptocurrency because of its usage on the dark web.
