The ruling group of the Gaza Strip, Palestine-Hamas has requested from its supporters to send funds in Bitcoin in order to fight financial isolation. The request was sent via the official Telegram channel of Abu Obeida who is a spokesman for Hamas and we are reading more about it today in our latest crypto news.
Hamas is believed to be a terrorist organization that has fractions in multiple countries such as the United States and the European Union. Other countries such as Russia, China, and Turkey do not think that Hamas is a terrorist group.
Abu Obeida told the followers to support the resistance financially using Bitcoin by saying:
“The Zionist enemy is fighting the resistance by trying to cut its support by all means, but the resistance lovers in all the world are fighting these Zionist attempts and are seeking to find all possible support for the resistance.”
Hamas is governing the Gaza Strip since 2007 after combating the Palestinian nationalist political party Fatah after the elections in 2006. The Gaza Strip is still a subject of air, land and sea blockade that is imposed by Israel which limits the movements of the people and goods from Palestine.
Hamas’ turn to BTC comes after the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to freeze millions of dollars that came as an aid of Qatar that was meant to pay the Hamas civil servants each month.
The US House of Representatives has passed a bill in September 2018 that hopes to establish a crypto task force in order to fight terrorism and the use of cryptocurrencies by terrorists.
