The South Korean electronics giant Samsung is reportedly seeking new ways to obtain a UK trademark for the creation of a cryptocurrency wallet, according to one filing with the U.K. Intellectual Property Office that the tech giant had on December 27th this year.
As the “Classes and terms” section of the application reveals, Samsung cites the developments as:
“Computer software for use as a cryptocurrency wallet; Computer software for cryptocurrency transfer and payment using blockchain technology; Computer application software for smartphones, namely, software to allow users to transfer cryptocurrency based on blockchain technology and pay via 3rd party’s application software.”
The application also shows Samsung’s plans to include a cryptocurrency cold wallet on its Galaxy 10 smartphone which is something we hinted at before on our DC Forecasts crypto news site. Samsung reportedly filed three European Union trademark application for the blockchain and cryptocurrency related software in the beginning of this month.
Earlier this month, we reported about HTC and its Exodus 1 phone which is the “first native blockchain phone” that has full support for multiple blockchains such as Bitcoin and Ethereum networks.
Last month, the blockchain-centric electronic supplier SIRIN Labs also launched its first blockchain-based smartphone called FINNEY which is based on both Android and the open-source operating system of the company, the SIRIN OS.
