One Internet blogger from St. Petersburg saw the dark side of bragging about his Bitcoin holdings online. Pavel Nyashin, a 24-year old blogger, was beaten and robbed of 24 million rubles in his Leningrad area home, forklog reports.
After a blog post where he mentioned his wealth and even the house where he keeps his crypto holdings, Nyashin was attacked by some masked robbers. The founder of the channel “Kryptach” also posted a video on social media networks where he teaches people to trade Bitcoin on exchanges.
Nyashin said that most of the robbers wore New Year’s masks, but there was one who didn’t and whose face he remembers. Apparently, the robbers hit him in the eye with a pistol before tying him up and taking the safe which contains the equivalent of 24 million rubles in Bitcoin (around $417,000).
The robbers also destroyed all of his home appliances and computers before leaving the house in a Mercedes-Benz vehicle. What’s interesting is that before the attack, a stranger contacted Nyashin claiming that he wants to invest in cryptocurrencies and wants him to teach how that is possible on the exchanges. Now, Nyashin says that this individual could have been among the robbers.
What’s uncertain, though, is how the robbers learned Nyashin’s home address. According to some, the house can be seen in some of his YouTube videos. However, even in that case, the robbers now probably don’t know how to get into his blogger’s account or access his cryptocurrency.
Nyashin is not the first victim of criminals because of cryptocurrencies.
